The several tonne rocks in front of the museum building tell us about the hundreds of millions of years of Earth's history. They are installed in the order of their formation. There is a piece of gneiss from Kópháza, a Devonian period limestone from Szabadbattyán and a Permian period sandstone from the northern shore of Lake Balaton. The Mesozoic Era is represented by sedimentary rocks (limestone containing clams and ammonites). Among the rocks formed during the last 65 million years, we find volcanic formations and rocks formed in the sea as well as in freshwater environment.
