Children's interest in mammoths and their contemporaries is often piqued, among other things, by the animated film “Ice Age”. Does the film portray these animals authentically? It becomes clear how the mammals of the Ice Age adapted to the adversities of that time. Could a mammoth and a dinosaur have met? We describe the conditions and how prehistoric people lived. The program discusses how sabertoothed cats hunted, what the cave bear ate, whether the cave lion had a mane, and how the mammoth changed its teeth. Finally, it also becomes clear why the giants of the Ice Age disappeared and who have survived until today.
